Our Story

· · ·

[Placeholder] How we met. The first date. The unforgettable trip. The moment we knew. We'll write this together, weaving the threads of our story into something worth telling — in our own words, in our own time.

[Placeholder] The proposal — where, when, and how Jake managed (or didn't manage) to keep his composure. The ring. The tears. The yes.

[Placeholder] What this wedding means to us, and what it means to celebrate it with you, in this corner of France that already feels like ours.

The grounds where it all unfolds

Domaine des Halles

· · ·

A seventeenth-century chateau set on rolling Rhône hills — a quiet lake, a walled garden, a refectory hung with old beams, and rooms to lose yourself in. Wander freely.

A Guide to Lyon

· · ·

Roughly an hour from the chateau by car or train, Lyon is France's quiet rival to Paris — two thousand years of Roman ruins, Renaissance silk passages, and the country's most serious food culture. A few of our favorite ways to spend a day.

Hand-painted watercolor map of Lyon, France — Fourvière, Vieux Lyon, Place Bellecour, Grand Hôtel-Dieu, the Saône and the Rhône, Les Halles de Lyon Paul Bocuse, Croix-Rousse, and Parc de la Tête d'Or

Curated for you

  • For the curious

    The Traboules of Vieux Lyon

Slip through the hidden Renaissance passageways that once shuttled silk bolts (and, later, Resistance fighters) between courtyards. Best with a local guide who knows which doors to push.

  • For the gourmand

Les Halles de Lyon · Paul Bocuse

The temple of Lyonnaise gastronomy — quenelles, saucisson, Saint-Marcellin and a glass of Beaujolais by noon. Come hungry, leave with a wheel of cheese under your arm.

  • For the romantic

    Fourvière at golden hour

Funicular up to the basilica, then linger on the terrace as the city's two rivers turn copper beneath you. The Roman amphitheatre is a short walk down through the cypress.

  • For the wanderer

    The Beaujolais wine country

A half-day in the golden-stone villages just north — Oingt, Vaux-en-Beaujolais — with tastings at family-run domaines and a long lunch with a view of the Pierres Dorées.

  • For the elegantly idle

An apéro at the Grand Hôtel-Dieu

A 17th-century hospital reborn as Lyon's most beautiful interior courtyard. Order a Lillet under the colonnade and pretend, for an hour, that you live here.

  • For the bouchon believer

    Dinner in a true bouchon

The unhurried, red-checked-tablecloth ritual of Lyonnaise cooking. Look for the official "Authentique Bouchon Lyonnais" certification — we'll share our shortlist closer to the date.

Travel & Stay

· · ·

By Air

Aéroport Lyon-Saint-Exupéry

The nearest international airport is Lyon-Saint-Exupéry (LYS), roughly 1h15 by car from the chateau. From the US, most guests connect through Paris CDG or Amsterdam. Geneva (GVA) is a beautiful alternative for those routing through Switzerland — about 2 hours by road.

By Rail

SNCF · TGV · Local lines

The TGV from Paris-Gare de Lyon reaches Lyon Part-Dieu in 2 hours. From Lyon, the chateau is about an hour west by car or local train via Sain-Bel. We'll share a curated transfer guide nearer the date — you won't have to puzzle it out alone.

Where to Stay

Hotel Block · Coming Soon

We are securing a hotel block at a property near the chateau, plus options in Lyon for guests who'd like to make a longer trip of it. Details and booking instructions will arrive here as soon as we have them.

Everything you might wonder

Questions

· · ·

Black tie preferred. Think long gowns, tuxedos, or a beautifully tailored dark suit. We want you to feel elegant — and to enjoy the photographs years from now without regret. If you have questions about specific events, just ask.

In general, this is an adults-only celebration — but children and plus-ones have been invited individually where applicable. Your invitation will name everyone we're hoping to host. If you have any uncertainty, please reach out to us directly.

We kindly ask for all RSVPs by 25 January 2027. The sooner we know, the better we can plan — and the sooner we get to look forward to seeing you.

Not at all. The staff at the chateau speak English, and we'll have everything you need in both languages. That said — a "bonjour" and a "merci" at the boulangerie will be received like a small miracle.

Lovely — warm days (typically 22–28°C / 72–82°F), cool evenings that may want a light wrap. June in the Rhône is generally dry and golden, but we always recommend a backup plan for evening chill.

We're arranging shuttle service from the hotel block to the chateau and back for the main wedding day. Details — including pickup times and locations — will follow once accommodations are confirmed.

Please note it in your RSVP and we'll make sure the kitchen knows well in advance. The chateau is wonderfully accommodating with vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and allergen-aware needs.

If you're traveling from the US, UK, Canada, or most other countries, you generally do not need a visa for a short tourist stay — but you will need a valid passport with at least six months remaining and the ETIAS authorization that may be in effect by 2027. Please check the current requirements for your country well in advance.

We recommend arriving by Wednesday, 23 June — earlier if you'd like to explore Lyon. Departures from Friday, 25 June onward (after our farewell brunch for chateau guests). Many guests stay on for a week to enjoy the South of France or Provence.
